About the featured artists:
Yoshitake Expe:
Since 2001, Yoshitake Expe has made a
name for himself throughout Japan as an inventive
and extraordinary guitarist. With his extensive usage
of over seventy effects pedals, Yoshitake creates
waves of transcendental soundscapes, drawing
from a range of influences including ambient, funk,
electronic and Brazilian music. Yoshitake’s technique,
dubbed “space guitar,” takes the listener on
a spiritual journey that moves beyond time and consciousness.
The Tronic:
Formed in 2008 as an improvisational live jazz-tronic band w/ DJ sensibilities and instrumental proficiency. Gregg Jarvis (nyc) utilizes drums and electronics along with Thomas Bell (nyc) on basses and synthesizers to create soundscapes, grooves and other worldly nastiness. Their unique approach to improvisation blurs the lines between the live musician, the composer and the dj. The Tronic is truly a forward-thinking modern jazz ensemble.
Dangeroo Duo:
"Here's one from a band banging out rock-tinged avant-garde soundscapes. One part tribal and one part post-rock, Brooklyn duo Dangeroo play experimental, improvisational music with a healthy helping of energy and a slight sense of doom. Band members Ofir Gannon and Neil Roberts use everything from six-string guitars to bells to conch shells to create a multifaceted sound. "Circuit Jerk" is full of hyperactive guitar, haunting vocal distortions and thunderous, mystical percussion."
